Compliance Standards

Built for Serious Buyers. Structured for Compliance.

We take age verification, lawful transfer handling, regulated product review, jurisdiction-based limitations, and responsible order processing seriously. If an order cannot be completed lawfully, it may be delayed, adjusted, or canceled. Membership benefits, promotional shipping offers, and free-shipping incentives do not override legal, transfer, carrier, or compliance requirements.

Age-Aware Access

We use age-verification measures on relevant pages and product flows to help restrict access where appropriate.

Lawful Transfer Handling

Products that require licensed transfer handling are processed through lawful channels and are not shipped directly in violation of applicable law.

Order Review Rights

We reserve the right to review, hold, cancel, or refuse orders when legal eligibility, jurisdiction, product restrictions, or compliance concerns are present.

Order Handling

How Regulated Orders Work

If a product requires additional legal handling, transfer procedures, verification, or review, that process will apply before delivery is completed. Certain items may require shipment to a licensed dealer or other compliance-aware handling depending on product type and destination.

1. Order Review

Orders may be reviewed for product restrictions, destination limits, and compliance requirements before fulfillment.

2. Transfer / Verification

Where required, lawful transfer handling, dealer coordination, identity checks, or age verification may apply.

3. Completion or Cancellation

If a product cannot legally be transferred or fulfilled, the order may be canceled or adjusted in accordance with site policy.

Firearm Transfer Notice: Firearms are not shipped directly to a buyer where transfer to a licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer is required by applicable federal, state, or local law. Transfer-required orders must be completed through lawful dealer handling and all required verification, background-check, and pickup procedures. Dealer fees, transfer fees, background-check fees, and other third-party compliance costs are the buyer's responsibility unless The Bad Bodega expressly states otherwise in writing, and such costs are not covered by membership or shipping benefits.

Age & Eligibility

Age Verification & Eligibility

Buyers must meet all applicable legal age and eligibility requirements before purchasing restricted products. Additional verification may be required depending on the product, transfer pathway, and destination jurisdiction.

  • Age-verification steps may appear on entry pages, checkout flows, or product-specific purchase paths.
  • Some products may require higher age thresholds or additional legal review.
  • Failure to satisfy age or legal eligibility requirements may result in cancellation of the order.
  • Buyers are responsible for ensuring they are legally permitted to purchase, receive, possess, and use the products they order.
State & Local Laws

Jurisdiction Matters

Product availability, transfer rules, magazine limits, ammunition restrictions, defensive-use product rules, and related legal requirements may vary by state, county, or municipality.

The Bad Bodega does not guarantee that every product displayed on the site is lawful in every jurisdiction. Buyers are responsible for confirming legality before purchase.

If there is any conflict between this page and applicable law, the law controls. When needed, consult your state Attorney General, local authority, or a qualified attorney regarding your jurisdiction.

Customer Responsibility

No Straw Purchases

We do not support, allow, or assist straw purchases, false statements, unlawful transfers, or attempts to buy on behalf of someone who is prohibited or ineligible.

No Unlawful Use

By using this site, you represent that you will not use our products, services, marketplace features, or purchase pathways for unlawful conduct or prohibited possession.

Important: Orders or accounts associated with suspected fraud, false information, unlawful intent, or prohibited conduct may be declined, suspended, or referred for additional review.

Policy / FFL Transfer

FFL Transfer Policy

Structured. Lawful. Operationally tight. When an order requires licensed transfer handling, The Bad Bodega routes that order through a serious process built around receiving-dealer coordination, destination review, and transfer completion at the appropriate FFL.

FFL Transfer Overview

Some products sold through The Bad Bodega may require lawful transfer handling through a Federal Firearms Licensee depending on the item, destination, buyer location, and the rules that apply at the time of fulfillment. When that applies, the order is not released directly to the customer. It is routed to an eligible receiving FFL for lawful transfer completion. Membership benefits, promotional shipping offers, and free-shipping incentives do not override lawful transfer, dealer, carrier, or compliance requirements.

Core transfer standard

  • Transfer-required items may need to ship to a valid FFL rather than directly to the buyer.
  • The receiving FFL is responsible for completing the final transfer process at their licensed premises.
  • The buyer must complete any required in-person paperwork and background-check process at the receiving dealer where applicable.
  • Transfer requirements can vary by product, destination, and dealer acceptance.
  • The Bad Bodega reserves the right to hold or cancel orders if lawful transfer conditions cannot be satisfied.
This page explains how The Bad Bodega handles transfer-required orders operationally. It is not legal advice and does not replace federal, state, or local law.
Destination Matters Transfer handling can change based on the buyer's state, the seller's state, the receiving dealer, and the item category involved.
Dealer Coordination Matters A transfer does not move cleanly unless the receiving FFL is valid, responsive, and willing to accept the shipment.
Final Pickup Is In Person Where transfer handling applies, the buyer does not bypass the dealer process by ordering online.

How FFL Transfers Work

The Bad Bodega uses a controlled transfer workflow for products that require licensed dealer handling. The exact steps can vary by item and destination, but the operational path below reflects the standard process.

01

Order Review

The order is reviewed for product category, destination, buyer location, transfer requirement triggers, and any state or local restrictions that may affect release.

02

Receiving FFL Selection

The buyer provides a receiving dealer, or coordinates a local FFL willing to accept the transfer. The Bad Bodega may request dealer contact information and other supporting details before the order can proceed.

03

Dealer Verification

Before shipment, The Bad Bodega may verify that the receiving FFL is valid and appropriate for the transfer workflow. Orders may remain on hold until that verification is complete.

04

Shipment to Receiving FFL

When the order clears review, the transfer-required product is shipped to the receiving FFL — not directly to the end customer where dealer transfer handling is required.

05

In-Person Transfer Completion

The buyer appears at the receiving FFL, completes required transfer documentation, and proceeds through the receiving dealer's lawful transfer process, including ATF Form 4473 and NICS background check where applicable.

06

Final Pickup

The item is released only if the receiving FFL completes the transfer in accordance with applicable rules and their own lawful operating procedures.

Buyer Responsibility

The buyer is responsible for making sure the transaction can lawfully and operationally be completed. Online checkout does not eliminate the transfer obligations that may apply to a regulated order.

Choose a willing dealer

The buyer is responsible for selecting or coordinating a receiving FFL that is willing to accept the transfer and complete the process for the ordered item.

Know your destination rules

The buyer is responsible for understanding whether the product can be lawfully received, transferred, possessed, or used in their jurisdiction.

Pay local transfer fees

Unless The Bad Bodega expressly states otherwise in writing, any fees charged by the receiving FFL, along with background-check fees or other third-party compliance costs, are the buyer's responsibility, are separate from the Bad Bodega order total, and are not covered by membership or shipping benefits.

Buyer obligations may include

  • Providing accurate receiving FFL details
  • Responding promptly to verification requests
  • Appearing in person at the receiving FFL where required
  • Presenting valid identification and any other required records
  • Completing transfer paperwork truthfully and lawfully

No bypass language

The Bad Bodega does not represent that an online order bypasses dealer transfer rules, background-check rules, or state-specific transfer requirements. If a product requires transfer handling, that process remains part of the order.

Receiving FFL Coordination & Verification

A transfer-required order is only as clean as the receiving dealer setup. The Bad Bodega may require confirmation that the receiving dealer is valid, reachable, and willing to accept the shipment before the order is released.

What may be required

  • Receiving FFL name and contact details
  • Dealer shipping instructions where applicable
  • Confirmation that the receiving FFL will accept the transfer
  • Verification that the order can lawfully be routed to that destination
  • Additional hold time while dealer information is reviewed

Transfer release conditions

The Bad Bodega may refuse or delay shipment if the receiving FFL cannot be verified, declines the transfer, does not respond, provides incomplete information, or is otherwise unsuitable for the transaction.

A buyer should contact the receiving dealer before ordering whenever possible. That step prevents a large percentage of avoidable delays.

Pickup, Form 4473 & Background Check

For transfer-required orders, final pickup occurs at the receiving FFL. The receiving dealer controls the final transfer process, including any required paperwork, identity review, and background-check process applicable to the transfer.

In-person appearance

The buyer must appear in person at the receiving FFL's premises where required to complete the transfer process. Online ordering does not replace that requirement.

Form 4473 / NICS

Where applicable, the receiving FFL is responsible for the ATF Form 4473 and NICS background-check step before the item can be lawfully transferred.

Dealer discretion

The receiving dealer may apply lawful store procedures, identification review, fee collection, transfer scheduling, and pickup timing consistent with their business practices and legal obligations.

Inspection at pickup

Buyers should inspect a transfer-required item promptly at the receiving dealer location before completing the transfer where permitted. If there is visible shipping damage, an incorrect item, or a material issue, it should be reported immediately before transfer completion.

After transfer completion

Once a transfer-required item has been transferred, accepted, or taken into possession where applicable, return eligibility may be limited or eliminated under The Bad Bodega Returns Policy and the nature of the item involved.

Order Holds, Delays & Cancellations

Transfer-required orders may be delayed, held, edited, or canceled when the receiving dealer setup fails, the destination cannot be cleared, required information is missing, or lawful transfer completion cannot occur.

Typical hold triggers

Missing dealer information, nonresponsive receiving FFLs, destination conflicts, product restrictions, documentation gaps, identity mismatches, or transfer-path uncertainty.

Cancellation triggers

Orders may be canceled if transfer requirements cannot be satisfied in a reasonable time, if the selected FFL will not accept the item, or if the transaction cannot move lawfully.

Operational reality

Some delays are not caused by shipping speed at all — they are caused by incomplete transfer setup. The cleanest transfer is the one prepared correctly on the front end.
